History
Caring for Communities Since 1975
For more than 50 years, Southern West Virginia Health System has grown alongside the communities we serve. What began in 1975 with the founding of Lincoln Primary Care Center in Hamlin, West Virginia, was rooted in a simple idea: rural communities deserve access to trusted healthcare close to home. That commitment continues to guide our organization today.
Over the decades, our organization has evolved through partnerships, expansion, and a shared dedication for healthier communities across southern West Virginia. Each milestone reflects the commitment of community leaders, staff, and supporters who believed in building something lasting for the people of this region.
Our timeline highlights key moments that shaped our journey and reflects continued commitment to caring for communities since 1975.
