COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 Vaccination  Services

We’ve come a long way to reducing the severe impact of the COVID-19 virus on our communities.  Vaccines have proven to be effective at reducing the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death among people who are vaccinated.

But the vaccines can only work if you get them. We are pleased to be able to provide the residents in our communities with an opportunity to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, CDC.

Vaccines do more than keep us protected from the harmful effects of certain diseases. They give us peace of mind that we have taken a proactive approach to keeping ourselves, and all those we love, living our healthiest lives.

No appointment is necessary to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Simply come to the registration desk at any of our clinics and let our staff know you would like to receive the updated vaccine. We provide this service as a nurse visit through our Walk-In or Same Day Appointment service.

What are some factors that go into making a decision on when I, or my child/children, should receive the COVID-19 vaccination?

Your family medicine provider is here to help you navigate the when and why you and your child/children should receive the COVID-19 vaccination, no matter your age or stage in life. Some factors that go into making the decision are:

  • Our Age – in most cases the CDC recommends COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 6 months and older
  • Our Unique Health Conditions-some individuals are at higher risk of developing serious complications from COVID-19 because of what is referred to as chronic conditions impacting their immune system
  • Occupations-Some individuals who work in a customer or patient care environment are more likely to be exposed to COVID-19 because of the job that they perform
  • And more!

When should I talk with my provider about my risk factors and if the COVID-19 vaccination is right for me?

Talking with your provider about your specific health history and risk factors for developing severe illness with COVID-19 are just as important today as it was at the start of the pandemic.  We encourage you to talk with your provider about the COVID-19 vaccine, along with other immunizations, during your next appointment. Don’t have a provider to speak with?  We’re happy to help!  All of our locations are accepting new patients and we would be happy to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine with you during your first appointment with us.

Do I need to make an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination?

No appointment is necessary to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at our health centers. At this time, we are able to administer the COVID-19 vaccination as a nurse visit through our Walk-In or Same Day Appointment services.

If I received a COVID-19 vaccination prior to the newly updated vaccine released in September of 2023, should I receive another vaccination?

Yes. Overtime, the protection from severe illness from COVID-19 can begin to lessen because of two things:

  • New variants can begin to emerge of the COVID-19 virus, impacting the effectiveness of the original vaccine series
  • The antibodies our immune system created from the original primary series/booster series can begin to lessen

What are some common symptoms of COVID-19?

Some common symptoms of flu are:

  • Fever or Chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue (feeling overly tired)
  • Muscle or Body Aches
  • Headache
  • New Loss of Taste or Smell
  • Sore Throat
  • Congestion or Runny Nose
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Should I see a medical provider if I think I have COVID-19?

Yes.  If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, we encourage you to make an appointment with your family medicine provider or come see us through our Walk-In or Same Day Appointment service.  A few reasons to seek medical attention for COVID-19 symptoms are:

  • Medications have been developed to help reduce the number of days and severity of COVID-19 infection when administered in the beginning days of diagnosis
  • Many of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory infections, such as Influenza (Flu), and treatment and protocols will be different depending on the diagnosis

What is the difference between the word vaccination and immunization?

Immunization is a process by which a person becomes protected against a disease through vaccination.

Vaccination is the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.
