FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dr. Zackery Asbury Transitions to Southern West Virginia Health System, Keeping Primary Care Close to Home

Hamlin, W.Va. – April 17th, 2025 – Southern West Virginia Health System is pleased to announce that Dr. Zackery Asbury, MD, will be joining our team to continue serving the healthcare needs of patients in southern West Virginia. Dr. Asbury, who has been an integral part of the primary care team at Logan Regional Medical Center, will expand access to a primary care physician in the Man and Oceana communities.

This shift comes at a critical time, as rural areas face severe physician shortages and increased demand for primary care services. By joining the primary care teams at Southern West Virginia Health System’s Man and Oceana sites, Dr. Asbury will be able to meet patients closer to home, ensuring continuity of care and strengthening rural healthcare in Southern West Virginia.

“We recognize that the need for primary care providers in rural areas is urgent, and we support Dr. Asbury in continuing to serve the region’s patients,” says David Brash, CEO of Logan Regional Medical Center. “This collaboration underscores the shared goal of Logan Regional Medical Center and Southern West Virginia Health System: ensuring that our rural populations have access to the care they deserve, both now and in the future,” adds Lisa Leach, CEO of Southern West Virginia Health System.

Dr. Asbury has been a trusted primary care physician in the region for years, and this transition reflects a shared vision for patient-centered sustainable care in southern West Virginia. Southern West Virginia Health System is honored to welcome Dr. Asbury as part of our commitment to provide high-quality care in the communities we serve.

Both Logan Regional Medical Center and Southern West Virginia Health System remain dedicated to working together to address the unique healthcare needs of rural communities and hope that this transition will strengthen our relationship so that we may continue to collaborate on future initiatives that prioritize patient care and community health.
