Greg Elkins, MD:  Hamlin

Greg Elkins is a 1988 graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine and he completed his residency at Marshall University School of Medicine where he was Chief Resident.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the AMA. Dr. Elkins came to Lincoln Primary Care Center in 1991 and has been its Medical Director for over 20 years.

In addition to his patient care and administrative responsibilities he serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, teaching students and residents at LPCC. Dr. Elkins also has a special interest in Sports Medicine and has served as Team Physician for Lincoln County Schools for over 25 years.

As another part of his Sports Medicine interest he has been a member of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission’s Sports Medicine Committee and has Chaired the WV Academy of Family Practice’s Sports Medicine Committee since the 1980s. Most recently he has served on the National Federation of High School Associations Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, working on sports medicine policy regarding concussion, heat illness, skin issues in sports and other problems.

Dr. Elkins is a Hamlin native and lives there with his wife Joanna. They have 2 daughters, Jessica and Rachel.
