Dr. Trenton Hayes, MD, is a family medicine physician who joined Southern West Virginia Health System in 2025. Since then, he has been committed to delivering personalized, compassionate care to individuals and families across the region, ensuring that patients in southern West Virginia have local access to high-quality primary care.  

During his residency, Dr. Hayes distinguished himself both clinically and academically. He was named Family Medicine Outstanding Resident for the 2023-24 academic year, earned Resident of the Month honors in December 2024, and was recognized as Resident Teacher of the Year in 2024 for his commitment to mentoring future physicians. He was also a member of a prestigious honor society, reflecting his excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.

Welcome to Southern West Virginia Health System! We look forward to caring for you. As a new patient seeing Dr. Hayes, we want to make sure your visit goes smoothly.  

As a new patient, please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment so we can complete your registration. Be sure to bring your photo ID, and, if applicable, your health insurance card for check-in. Also, have a list of any medications you’re currently taking, both prescription and over the counter, to share with our clinical team at the start of your visit.  

Your first appointment should take approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Hayes will take this time to get to know you, review your medical history, assess your current health, and discuss any care or follow-up that may be needed.  Our goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care right from day one.
