FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hamlin, W.Va. – April 23rd, 2026 —  On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, Southern West Virginia Health System held a dedication ceremony for its new headquarters, naming the building The Dr. Greg Elkins Memorial Building, in honor of the organization’s late Chief Medical Officer, a respected physician and leader whose impact resonates across the organization.

The ceremony brought together those who knew him best and those who were touched by his work, including his wife, representatives from the local school whose students he supported as a sports medicine provider, community members, local media, and staff from the Lincoln Primary Care Center location who worked alongside him.

“This event was much more than just naming a building,” said Lisa Leach, Chief Executive Officer of Southern West Virginia Health System. “It was about recognizing the legacy of a man who devoted so much of his life to making communities healthier. By placing his name here, we ensure his presence remains with us as we shape the future of the organization he called home.”

Known for his leadership, he played a critical role in guiding clinical excellence and strengthening the organization’s connection to everyone served by SWVHS. His dedication wasn’t bound by the walls of the exam room, as he passionately supported student athletes and established meaningful relationships throughout the community.

The newly dedicated headquarters now stands as a reflection of his commitment. It carries forward the very values he helped define and the standards he set.

Southern West Virginia Health System views this dedication not only as a tribute, but as a responsibility, to advancing care and serving communities in a way that reflects the life and work of the individual it honors.
