Chris Harper, PharmD is an accomplished pharmacist with over twenty-five years of industry experience who joined Lincoln County Primary Care Center in 2005, which grew to become Southern West Virginia Health System in 2010. Since then, he has been working to improve the health and wellness of the patients we serve in southern West Virginia. 

Chris Harper, PharmD serves as both the Pharmacy Director and Chief Development Officer of Southern West Virginia Health System and makes executive level decisions that impact the progress of providing health and wellness initiatives where rural health care matters most, in the heart of the communities we serve. From time to time, you might see Chris Harper helping to cover one of our six pharmacy locations.

What is a Chief Development Officer, CDO? 

The Chief Development Officer, CDO, of Southern West Virginia Health System works in an administrative role to manage the organization’s facility development projects and information technology operations.  In addition to these responsibilities, the CDO also provides guidance on organization safety standards, policy & procedure development, the forecasting of new service lines and service implementation, and more!

The Pharmacy Director of an organization is responsible for the overall operation of the pharmacy department.  This position includes hiring pharmacists and pharmacy staff, directing the management of inventory levels, systems, and controls, and the overall forecasting of the development of new pharmacy locations and the management of laws, regulations, and compliance measures that are enacted for the industry.

PharmD stands for Doctor of Pharmacy and is a professional designation after passing licensure and degree requirements.   

What is a Pharmacist? 

A pharmacist is a healthcare professional who dispenses prescription medications and provides information to patients about the drugs and their use.  They ensure doses are correct, prevent harmful drug interactions, and counsel patients on the safe and appropriate use of their medications.
