Leanna Profitt, APRN FNP-BC is an experienced provider who joined Southern West Virginia Health System in 2023. Since then, she has been working to improve the health and wellness of the patients she sees by providing local access to family medicine and women’s health services in southern West Virginia. Leanna Profitt is accepting new patients into her primary care schedule and seeks to build a partnership with her patients in order to help them live their healthiest lives.

What is an APRN?  

An APRN is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and is focused on a patient-centered model of practice and education. APRN’s undergo specialized training and have met advanced educational and clinical practice requirements such as a Master of Science in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice. The type of medical services an APRN can practice range from primary and preventive care to mental health & anesthesia depending on certifications. What should I expect at a family medicine appointment with Leanna Profitt APRN FNP-BC as a new patient?  

As a new patient to our practice and to Leanna Profitt, APRN FNP-BC we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to process your new patient paperwork. You will be asked to provide your photo identification and medical insurance information to our Front Office member during the check-in process. We ask that you bring a list of all medications you take, both over-the-counter and prescribed, to provide to our nursing staff at the beginning of your appointment with Leanna Profitt, APRN FNP-BC. 

Your new patient appointment will take approximately a half-hour to establish a strong knowledge of your medical history, assessment of your current condition and services considered necessary by Leanna Profitt, APRN FNP-BC. 

What should I expect at a family medicine appointment with Leanna Profitt APRN FNP-BC as an established patient?  

As an established patient with Leanna Profitt, APRN, FNP-BC, we ask that you provide your photo identification and medical insurance information to our Front Office member during the check-in process. If you have had any changes to your contact information since the last time you visited us, please let us know during this time. 

Your established patient appointment with Leanna Profitt, APRN, FNP-BC will take approximately 15 minutes. This allows the opportunity to discuss any changes in health you have experienced since your last appointment, the opportunity to notify Leanna of any recent hospital or urgent care visits you have experienced, and an update if any of those visits outside of our organization included a medication both over-the-counter and prescribed. 

Are there pharmacy services nearby?  

 Should Leanna Profitt, APRN FNP-BC prescribe a medication to you during your appointment, we have an on-site pharmacy at Lincoln Primary Care Center, as well as a stand-alone pharmacy at Dennis’ Pharmacy in Hamlin, WV. We would be happy to fill your prescription in a timely and efficient manner at one of those locations.   

If you prefer to have your prescriptions sent to a different pharmacy, we are happy to do so.  Just let our staff know at the time you are asked which pharmacy location you prefer.
