Southern West Virginia Health System's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program provides compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals seeking recovery from opioid use disorder. Our approach combines FDA-approved medication with counseling and behavioral therapies to help patients safely manage withdrawal, reduce cravings, and build a foundation for long-term recovery.

Southern West Virginia Health System is a spoke of the WVU MAT Program and is proud to offer this service for anyone that is an established patient with one of our Southern West Virginia Health System doctors or advanced practice practitioners.

How do I get started in the MAT Program?

  1. Schedule an appointment with one of our doctors or advanced practice practitioners to discuss your interest in the MAT Program.
  2. Your provider will place a referral to one of our sites offering MAT Program services.
  3. After your referral is received and approved, you'll meet with our MAT Program Case Manager for an orientation.
  4. You'll then meet with a Behavioral Health Provider for an assessment before beginning treatment.

How long does the program last?

There is no set timeframe. Recovery looks different for everyone, and the MAT Program is designed to meet you where you are.

Does Southern West Virginia Health System accept my insurance?

We accept most in-state health insurance plans, including major providers like Medicare, Medicaid, and many commercial carriers. If you're unsure whether your plan is in-network, feel free to call our billing office at 304-824-5860. We're happy to help check your coverage.   

If you're uninsured or underinsured, financial assistance may be available through our Sliding Fee Program.
