In mid-November Southern West Virginia Health System (SWVHS) had the honor of attending the 32nd Annual West Virginia Rural Health Conference, where we were excited to share the progress on our Blessing Boxes initiative. The response we received was nothing short of inspiring, and we’re deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve seen from community members, organizations, and leaders who are committed to helping us improve the health and well-being of our region.

Our Blessing Boxes, which have been installed at our SWVHS – Whitesville and SWVHS – Wharton locations, as well as at Van Jr/Sr High School and Sherman Jr/Sr High School, have quickly become a vital resource for families in need. These boxes are stocked with essential non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and other necessities, offering a helping hand to those facing challenges in accessing basic resources.

At the conference, it was truly inspiring to connect with so many like-minded individuals and organizations that share our commitment to breaking down barriers to living a healthy life. The outpouring of support and donations we received will help ensure that our Blessing Boxes remain well-stocked and accessible to those who need them most in the coming months.

As we continue our mission to provide quality healthcare and enhance the overall health and well-being of our communities, we are grateful for the continued collaboration and generosity that makes initiatives like the Blessing Boxes possible.

With this support, we will be able to keep our Blessing Boxes stocked with even more essential items, ensuring that our neighbors have access to the resources they need during difficult times. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped make this program such a success — together, we’re making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Healthy communities. It’s why we’re here.
